About

The EuroStepTM antislip profile is designed as facing for either concrete or brick outdoor stairways in combination with ceramic or other tiles no greater than 10 mm in thickness. The best horizontal surface, or tread, is roughly textured ceramic-granite. The EuroStepTM profile is not intended for steps already faced with tiles.

Assembly of the EuroStepTM profile, as well as subsequent tiling, does not require special skill. One needs only to carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Installation instructions are available upon demand at points of sale.

EuroStepTM is a pre-formed elastic profile (1) of wear-proof, frost-resistant rubber that is cemented onto the edges of concrete steps (2). The profile's horizontal and vertical fitting ledges (1.2) are edged with ceramic tiles (3) which are placed on both a step's horizontal tread and vertical riser members until the tile surfaces are flush with the working part (1.1) of the EuroStepTM profile.

The fitting ledges (1.2) are embedded into the core of a cement-based polymerized adhesive (4) applied between the tiles and steps in order to securely attach the profile to the step. The profile (without fitting ledges) measures 1185 x 50 x 20 mm.

1. SAFETY
The exceptional effectiveness of the EuroStepTM antislip profile is based on a simple idea: step edges must be resilient. The elasticity of the material enables one to step through surface ice crust and enter into contact with the rubber profile, thereby demonstrating the step edge's self-cleaning effect. Thicker ice layers are destroyed by lightly tapping the step's edge without risk of damaging the tiles. In spite of its simplicity, this concept has been protected by patents for invention in several countries, including the Russian Federation. A European patent is pending for the EuroStepTM antislip profile.
Products with similar properties are absent in world markets. As many have already determined, application of plastic and metal strips to step edges not only promotes ice build-up but makes it even more difficult to clear away. Grooves placed along strips or tile edges are also ineffective as they quickly become clogged with ice and snow. A resilient step edge is the only working solution.

2. LONG SERVICE LIFE
The EuroStepTM profile sharply reduces the mechanical load on tile borders adjoining step edges, thereby protecting tiles from occasional impact, in particular, when clearing ice from stairs. Its appropriate rubber formulation enables the profile to resist mechanical wear and oxidation while maintaining its elastic properties within a temperature range of from -50o to +100o Celsius. This explains why the EuroStepTM profile is able to sustain long-term, intensive use. In fact, after monitoring the action of the profile in winter conditions for three years in Moscow and for four years in the Baltic region, no attrition or cracking of the EuroStepTM profile has been observed, even on stairs at the entrance to shops in Moscow where winter conditions entail increased mechanical loads in a chemically aggressive environment.

3. ADEQUATE APPEARANCE
The profile's black color blends perfectly with tiles of any color, and makes step edges readily visible, even to those having weak eyesight. Its flexibility enables the profile to be applied to steps of practically any form. In addition, faced stairs look smart which explains why EuroStepTM is popular with owners of elite cottages.
